The villa

A garden villa, made for families

Five family rooms: two triples, two doubles, and one large family room, of which one family room and one double are still open, most with balconies and canopy beds, all with air conditioning and space for children to spread out. The family shares two living rooms, a kitchen, a pool in a shaded garden, a rooftop where morning yoga happens, and one long table where breakfast and dinner are served daily. Step out of the gate and a quiet, wild beach is a short walk away; Mirissa's swimming and surf beaches are minutes further.

The Edventures Mirissa Season

Four days a week, at the villa

From December to February, children ages 8 to 15 spend Monday to Thursday, 10am to 3pm, in our program at the villa, led by our Edventures guide with two dedicated local program guides alongside. Younger siblings are welcome alongside the family. Admission is by application and a short family interview, so the cohort stays small and well matched.

A program day, at a glance

  1. 10:00

Circle and movement in the garden, the day laid out together.

  2. 10:30

Project block with local makers: batik and textiles, woodwork, surf science, building with AI.

  3. 12:30

Lunch at one long table, included on program days.

  4. 13:15

Quiet hour. Reading, sketching, rest. Downtime is part of the design.

  5. 14:00

Water time and free play: the pool, the garden, the beach.

  6. 15:00

Pickup, and the afternoon is the family's.

A field trip every week

Thursdays go somewhere worth going: whale watching off Mirissa, the centuries-old fort at Galle, the cool green tea country, and safari among the elephants and leopards of the national parks. Transport and entry are included.

Surf and Sri Lankan arts

Two standing extracurriculars run every week of the Season: surf lessons on a beginner-friendly beach with local coaches, and a Sri Lankan arts session, from batik and mask painting to drumming, with makers who grew up in these crafts.

For parents

Your workday, handled by Ârc

Every adult in a residency package receives membership to Ârc, a founder and builder community establishing its Sri Lanka hub in Mirissa, four minutes on foot from the villa. That is a $395 per month value, bundled in: a proper coworking floor, a board room for workshops, community events and programming, and a cafe downstairs with a $100 monthly food and beverage credit and a 30% discount on the menu.

Work by the sea

The hub sits right on the beachfront, four minutes on foot from the villa, with a coworking floor, a board room for calls and workshops, and the sea through the windows. Around it, Mirissa has cafes in every direction, gyms from about $20 to $30 a month, and more yoga and Pilates studios than you will get through in a season. Mornings, there is yoga on the villa rooftop before the workday starts.

Landing is easy

Most nationalities, including the US, UK, EU, Australia, and Canada, arrive on a free 30-day tourist authorization arranged online, extendable in-country up to 180 days. English is widely spoken, ride hailing works, and a tuk tuk across town is a dollar or two.

Why Mirissa

A beach town with everything close

Mirissa is famous for the whales that pass offshore, and it sits on the loveliest stretch of Sri Lanka's south coast. Beaches where children can learn to surf are minutes away, Galle's centuries-old fort is up the coast, national parks with leopards and elephants are a couple of hours inland, and the cool green tea country is a day trip. English is widely spoken, so families find their feet fast.

Co-living is a shared home base: shared spaces and accommodations at a hotel or collective, with community around you and no scheduled program. A season is a term that includes our programming for children, typically 3 to 4 days a week, roughly 9 or 10am to 3 or 4pm.

Both, in sequence. The base opens as co-living in November: a garden villa home base with a pool, shared meals, and a community of worldschooling families around you. From December to February it hosts the Edventures Mirissa Season, which adds our children's programming at the villa, Monday to Thursday, 10am to 3pm, with a field trip every week and surf and Sri Lankan arts sessions woven through.

Every residency rate includes your family room at the villa, breakfast and dinner daily, lunch for enrolled children on program days, the full children's program, the weekly field trip, the surf and arts sessions, and Ârc coworking membership for every adult in the package. Flights, visas, and your own daytime lunches and adventures stay yours.
